For our musculoskeletal domain, we offer Lymphantic drainage and Deep Tissue Massage.

Lymphatic drainage massage:

It is a specialized form of gentle massage that focuses on stimulating the lymphatic system. Here are the key points about this technique:

1. Purpose: It aims to improve lymph flow, reduce swelling, and help remove waste and toxins from body tissues.

2. Technique: The massage uses light, gentle strokes that only affect the skin, without applying pressure to muscles.

3. Benefits:
– Reduces swelling and puffiness
– Helps with lymphedema symptoms
– May improve circulation
– Can aid in cellulite reduction
– Potentially enhances skin appearance and glow
– Assists in post-injury swelling reduction

4. Applications: It’s particularly helpful for conditions like lymphedema, especially after breast cancer treatment, as well as fibromyalgia, chronic venous insufficiency, and lipedema.

5. Precautions: It’s not recommended for people with certain conditions like cellulitis, heart problems, or active infections.

6. Types: There are manual techniques performed by therapists and simple techniques that can be learned for self-application at home.

7. Side effects: Generally safe, but some people may experience headaches, nausea, or fatigue.

Deep tissue massage:

Deep tissue massage can be an effective treatment for chronic lower back pain. Here are some key points about how it may help:

1. Deep tissue massage targets the inner layers of muscles and connective tissues, which can help relieve chronic muscle tension and pain in the lower back.

2. Studies have found that deep tissue massage helped reduce pain in people with chronic low back pain, with effects comparable to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen.

3. The technique can break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscles and tissues, potentially improving mobility and flexibility in the lower back.

4. Deep tissue massage may increase blood flow and reduce inflammation in the affected area, promoting faster healing.

5. It can help release chronic muscle pain and knots (adhesions) in the lower back region.

6. The massage can improve posture by addressing underlying tension and muscle imbalances that may contribute to lower back pain.

While deep tissue massage shows promise for managing chronic lower back pain, it’s important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting treatment, especially if you have any underlying medical conditions. The massage can be intense and may cause some discomfort during the session, so communication with your massage therapist is key to ensure an effective and safe experience.
